Gunmen attacked a retired Iraqi general, who had worked for the former U.S. occupation government, as he headed to a northern mosque to pray Friday, killing him and another man, police said. . Gen. Salim Majeed Blesh, 58, who had been a top commander in the Iraqi army, was assassinated in the northern city of Mosul. A neighbor who was with him, Sami Noori, 68, was also killed, police Capt. Ahmed Subhi said.
