Alleged kingpin charged for laundering, organized crime

The alleged leader of one of Mexico’s most important drug trafficking organization has been held over for trial on organized crime and money laundering charges, adding to earlier charges of marijuana and cocaine trafficking, the Attorney General’s Office announced Thursday. In a statement, federal prosecutors said a judge in the western state of Jalisco filed the new charges against Osiel Cárdenas, the alleged headed the Gulf Cartel in northeast Mexico. Full Story
