Israel killed two Islamic militants in a missile strike on a car in Gaza City Thursday amid a Palestinian leadership crisis over corruption that is creating growing chaos in Palestinian areas. The European Union’s top diplomat raised pressure on Palestinian President Yasser Arafat to implement reforms demanded by Prime Minister Ahmed Qurie, hinting the EU would reconsider relations if the premier quit. Palestinian security sources said an Israeli helicopter gunship fired a missile into a Gaza City district known to be an Islamic militant stronghold, killing two Islamic Jihad militants and leaving the car they were in a smoldering mass of metal. An army spokesman said the strike was against a high ranking Islamic Jihad militant behind a long list of attacks, including the ambush of an armored vehicle in May that killed six Israeli soldiers.
