Four thousand people were this afternoon evacuated from the Eiffel Tower and the square in which it stands after a threat was received, French La Chaine Info has reported. The TV said an anonymous caller had announced that an explosion would take place at 1420 gmt. The tower was quickly reopened after checks had been carried out, it added. The French news agency, AFP, in a report at 1613 gmt, quoted a police source as saying that the caller spoke of the threat of a plane crashing into the Eiffel Tower. Full Story
