The wife of a central Mexican state governor declared victory Monday in a primary race to succeed her husband, reviving the issue of husband-wife political dynasties just a week after President Vicente Fox’s wife abandoned her presidential aspirations amid criticism. Maricarmen Ramirez, wife of Tlaxcala Gov. Alfonso Sanchez Anaya, said she would create “total independence and separation from the government of the state” following Sunday’s primary for the Democratic Revolution Party.
