South Korea expanded a terror alert to deep-sea fishing vessels in the Persian Gulf Wednesday as a terrorist group threatened to blow up South Korean ships. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries said it had asked deep-sea fishermen in the Gulf to strengthen security against possible terror attacks. “We asked them to strengthen alert and escape systems from the region because the Gulf is really dangerous,” a ministry official said. South Korea has been on high alert against possible terror attacks on airplanes and overseas vessels, in response to threats from an Islamic terrorist group that allegedly threatened to attack ships delivering U.S. military equipment to Iraq.Full Story
