Iraq”s interim president outlined plans Wednesday for a new high court that would mediate disputes between the central government and those running autonomous regions, mainly in the Kurdish north. The Federal Supreme Court will “control the relationship between the central government and the governments of the regions of Iraq, as related to taxes, administration, resources and other” such issues, President Ghazi al-Yawer said after meeting with newly appointed members of an existing body, the Court of Cassation, Iraq’s highest appellate court.Full Story
