A state Department of Motor Vehicles office, the Yonkers Riverfront Library and the city’s Board of Education headquarters, all in Larkin Plaza downtown, were evacuated yesterday after someone called the state agency threatening to blow it up, authorities said. State and local authorities said a caller telephoned the DMV, which is near the Yonkers train station, around 1:15 p.m. and threatened to explode a bomb at 2:15 p.m. Police did not say whether the caller was male or female. Joe Picchi, a spokesman for the DMV, said the call was taken seriously. “It was business as usual until we were notified of the bomb scare,” Picchi said. “We made the decision to evacuate for the protection of our employees and customers.” Full Story
