UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) spokesman Toussaint Kongo Doudou reported today that out of the 6,700 police officers that will comprise this force, 2,200 have already been deployed in Haitian territory. According to Mr. Kongo Doudou, the remaining soldiers will arrive in the country gradually. In the next 30 days, 160 police officers out of a force of 1,600 will be deployed in Port-au-Prince, he reported. The Spanish parliament on 6 July ratified Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero’s decision to send soldiers to Haiti.Full Story
