Hezbollah guerrillas and Israeli troops fired rockets and shells at each other across the south Lebanon border Tuesday, a day after the deepest Israeli airstrike into Lebanon in four years. Lebanese security officials said the guerrillas attacked Israeli positions in the disputed Chebaa Farms area. Hezbollah issued a statement saying the attack was in retaliation for “the latest Israeli aggression,” a reference to the Monday airstrike on a Palestinian base south of Beirut. In Jerusalem, the Israeli military confirmed the attack, and said one officer was lightly wounded. Israeli artillery responded by striking the hills above the village of Kfar Chouba in southeast Lebanon, the Lebanese officials said, speaking on customary condition of anonymity. Full Story
