A UN official has accused Sudan of not taking seriously enough the crisis in the troubled western Darfur area. UN rapporteur Asma Jehangir told the BBC government-backed militias had been involved in extra-judicial executions and the killings were still going on. Ms Jehangir said people displaced by fighting were not getting support or justice from authorities. About 10,000 people have been killed and a million displaced during the conflict which started last year. The Sudanese government has denied arming the militias saying they were not operating in areas where the government had control. Full Story
