Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has vowed to eliminate Al-Qaeda-linked fighters hiding in rugged tribal areas bordering Afghanistan. Musharraf said “we have to eliminate Al-Qaeda” from the tribal areas in an interview aired by Dubai-based private ARY One television channel late Friday. “The aim is very clear in everyone’s mind. This is a popular demand of Pakistan” to eliminate Al-Qaeda, he said. Musharraf threatened punitive action against tribesmen who have so far failed in their promise to handover foreign militants sheltering in South Waziristan. “If they fail (to deliver foreign militants), there is no doubt in my mind that the military is the answer.
