Fire and rescue crews and law enforcement officers Friday received their first shipments of 1,100 kits including two level-C hazmat suits. The delivery is part of more than $500,000 worth of equipment ordered for Onslow County fire, rescue and law enforcement using grant money from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The Onslow County Sheriff’s Department received two positive-pressure respirators, with more on the way, and the Jacksonville Fire Department received six monitors that detect harmful gases.
