The U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia reiterated a call to its citizens to leave the oil-rich kingdom after gunmen believed linked to al Qaeda killed at least 16 people including seven foreigners on Saturday. “We are reiterating our call to American citizens to depart the country in light of recent terrorist attacks,” a U.S. embassy official told Reuters. The U.S. consulate in Dahran, close to the site of the attack at Khobar, will be closed to the public until Sunday, he said, adding that embassy personnel have been asked to remain in diplomatic quarters.
