Thirteen Iraqi police officers who graduated from Louisiana State University’s anti-terrorism program are headed back home. The officers completed a six-week training program. Originally, 24 officers started the program, but 11 asked to be sent home about halfway through the program, said Andy Laine, a spokesman for the U.S. State Department. The officers were selected for training in Baton Rouge by the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq and the Iraqi Governing Council, Laine said. The purpose of the training is “to establish a well-trained police force which is necessary for the success of our efforts in Iraq,” Laine said. Full Story
