City officials staged a mock explosion in a lower Manhattan subway station early Sunday, simulating an incident with 200 injured and 40 killed to test protocols and communications among emergency personnel from multiple agencies. Over 1,000 emergency personnel from city, state and federal agencies swarmed the Bowling Green subway station on the far southern tip of Manhattan — just blocks from the World Trade Center site — in response to the staged attack.
