International Falls would be home to a new training center for U.S. Border Patrol agents under a plan that lawmakers will bring to the Department of Homeland Security this week. The center would train agents on special skills needed along the nation’s 4,000-mile border with Canada. It would offer training at Rainy River Community College that’s not offered at other federal facilities. Sens. Mark Dayton and Norm Coleman and U.S. Rep. Jim Oberstar are scheduled to meet Tuesday on the proposal with Asa Hutchinson, undersecretary of Homeland Security. International Falls development officials also are expected to attend. Full Story
