Nuclear plot foiled, secret service says

The Ukrainian secret service said Monday that it had arrested several members of a criminal gang that was trying to sell radioactive material in the Middle East. Secret service officials said in a statement that several Ukrainians and citizens of Middle Eastern countries had been detained for trying to trade in red mercury, which is used in nuclear weapons. The suspects had obtained the mercury in Ukraine and had tried to take it out of the country in special containers, officials said. Full Story
