Saudi Arabia said Saturday a guard had fired shots outside a Riyadh compound housing Western expatriates but denied any clash with gunmen and said no arrests had been made. Security sources said earlier guards had exchanged fire with gunmen on an area of wasteland next to the Kingdom City Compound on the northeastern edge of the Saudi capital and that four people had been detained. “A security guard was suspicious and he fired shots,” an Interior Ministry spokesman said. “He went there and found nothing. No one was captured and nothing happened.” Residents said security measures at the compound were heightened following the incident and no one was allowed in or out of the compound.Full Story
