One U.S. Marine was killed and one wounded in an overnight clash with militants in Afghanistan, and more attacks are anticipated as Americans step up operations against the Taliban and al Qaeda, a spokesman said on Saturday. The attack took place late on Friday and into Saturday morning just south of Tirin Kot, the capital of central Uruzgan province some 380 km (234 miles) southwest of Kabul. Details were sketchy, but the Marines came under fire while out on a mission away from their base.
