Two British security experts and their Afghan translator were killed Wednesday in northeastern Afghanistan in an attack government officials linked to the Taliban or other insurgent forces. The men were employed by a British company, Global Risk Strategies, and were working for the United Nations voter registration program. They were touring the remote and mountainous province of Nuristan to evaluate logistics and security for registration sites for elections planned for September. The deaths bring to six the number of foreigners killed by suspected Taliban in the past year, and are another setback for election plans. Full Story
