A car bomb killed eight U.S. soldiers just south of Baghdad on Thursday in one of the bloodiest attacks on American ground troops in 13 months of war. Four other soldiers of the 1st Armored Division were wounded in the incident around 11:30 a.m. near Mahmudiya, a U.S. military spokeswoman said, citing initial reports from the scene. At least 10 soldiers died in three attacks on Thursday. April has been the cruelest month for U.S. forces, with 125 killed in action, far outnumbering the toll in the three weeks it took to dash to Baghdad and topple Saddam Hussein a year ago. Full Story
