Members of Saddam Hussein’s secret service, known as M-14, are behind many of the bombings in Iraq and the guerrilla attacks in Fallujah, The New York Times said quoting a Pentagon intelligence report. “We know the M-14 is operating in Fallujah and Ramadi,” said a senior US official who read the seven-page study, completed March 26 by the Defense Intelligence Agency with guidance from the Joint Intelligence Task Force comprising military and civilian intelligence agents. The report, which has been sent to Congress, says the M-14 had planned the present insurgency in Iraq even before the US-led coalition rolled into Baghdad last year, and have designed an operation with little central control so it can continue even when commanders are captured or killed.
