Saudi Arabia’s top cleric on Thursday condemned a suicide bombing that gutted a national police building in the capital as “one of the greatest sins.” Four people were killed in addition to the bomber, and 148 were injured in the attack Wednesday on the seven-story General Security building, the Interior Ministry said. However, officials from three hospitals said nine people may have died, citing the number of body parts recovered from the scene. Saudi officials said the bombing bore the hallmarks of Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaida network, which was blamed for suicide attacks in May and November 2003 in Riyadh that killed 51 people. Bin Laden, who was born in Saudi Arabia, has vowed to force U.S. troops from the country, which is home to Islam’s holiest sites. Full Story
