European governments on Thursday swiftly rejected an offer of a truce proposed by Osama bin Laden in exchange for a withdrawal of their troops from Iraq and other Muslim countries. The US and its allies said the fugitive leader of the al-Qaeda network would not succeed in driving a wedge between them. “You can’t make a deal with somebody like bin Laden. How can you make a deal with a terrorist? There is only one way to deal with him and that is to destroy him,” Colin Powell, US secretary of state, told Italy’s RAI network. Full Story
