Probe has FBI worried about future

More than anyone else, one man has become a familiar fixture to those inside the temporary Washington offices of the independent commission investigating the worst terrorist attacks in the nation’s history. Far and away, among people in or out of government, FBI Director Robert Mueller “has probably spent–at his own request–more time with the commission and its individual members than any other official,” said Thomas Kean, the chairman of the panel. “I think they [the FBI] are very concerned,” echoed Lee Hamilton, the former Indiana congressman who is the commission’s vice chairman.
