The brief abduction of seven missionaries will not deter South Korea from sending troops to Iraq but it has imposed a virtual ban on civilian travel to the country, Seoul’s foreign minister said on Friday. South Korea stood by plans to deploy 3,000 troops to Iraq despite worsening violence a year after the fall of Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon said, adding that a military survey team would leave for Iraq on Friday. “The government has expressed its stance on the Iraq troop deployment on many occasions and there is nothing to add.
