A U.N. counter-terrorism panel needed “a Mr. Blix” to press U.N. members to comply with post-Sept. 11 security measures, the committee’s head said on Friday. Ambassador Inocencio Arias of Spain said someone like Swedish diplomat Hans Blix, the former U.N. weapons inspector in Iraq, should be appointed as the world body’s counter-terrorism committee executive director, a position created by the Security Council in a resolution on Friday. “The committee is doing a decent job but it needs to be revitalized,” Arias said at a news briefing on the committee, which was formed after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States. “My dream is to have a Mr Blix for this position.
