Colombian drug lord Joaquin Valencia, once behind most drug shipments from the southwestern city of Cali, was extradited to the United States on Thursday, the Colombian police said. Nicknamed “the young man” or “the horseman,” for his love of breeding fine horses, Valencia, who was arrested early last year, was sent to Florida to face charges of smuggling cocaine and money laundering, the police said in a news release. A top associate of jailed Cali cartel bosses Miguel and Gilberto Rodriguez Orejuela, who also face extradition to the United States, Valencia was at one time, “according to U.S. authorities, the man who managed most of the drug trafficking and money laundering in Cali.” Full Story
