AMD announces antivirus chip

Built-in protection for 32/64-bit processor aimed at gaming market. AMD has launched a new 32/64-bit processor designed with hardware-level antivirus protection. Launched at CeBIT in Hanover, the AMD Athlon 64 FX53 2.4GHz will run on 32-bit or 64-bit software. But the hard-wired virus protection will only be usable on PCs running Windows XP Service Pack 2, due for release in the second half of this year. Full Story
