Defiance and resignation marked the mood in European capitals Wednesday as governments took urgent steps to try to prevent a repeat of last week’s devastating Madrid bombings that killed 201 people. “You’ve got to be more vigilant. You’ve got to be on the ball. It’s got to be London next,” Martin Dorricott, a 43-year-old hairdresser, told Reuters in central London.
