Saudi security forces killed two militants in a shootout here on Monday, including one considered to be Al Qaeda’s chief of operations on the Arabian Peninsula, American and Saudi officials said. Abu Hazim al-Shair, a Yemeni also known as Khaled Ali Haj, was the senior Qaeda figure in the region, an American counterterrorism official said. American officials have tied him to the bombing in May of residential complexes in Riyadh, which killed more than 30 people. Full Story
