BJ’s Wholesale Club Inc. (BJ) said on Friday its computer system may have been compromised and it has alerted its members that their credit card information may have been stolen. The Natick, Massachusetts, warehouse club operator said in a statement it recently learned that a small fraction of its 8 million members may have been affected. The company said it has notified police and was working with credit card companies. BJ’s said it conducted a review of its technology systems with a computer security firm and does not believe there was a central break-in of its systems. The company declined to provide further details, but said they were still working with police. Steps have been taken at the clubs to eliminate ways in which credit card information could be accessed, its statement said. Full Story
