Suspect parcels sent to London embassies
Four suspicious packages have been sent to embassies in London but initial tests suggest the contents are not dangerous, police say. Saudi Arabia said its embassy in London had notified authorities after receiving a package containing white powder. “The embassy received a closed envelope, containing white powder,” Saudi state television said. “British authorities were contacted and immediately dealt with the situation. All steps were taken to protect the embassy staff.” Five people died in the United States after inhaling anthrax bacteria spread in the U.S. mail in the months immediately after the September 11, 2001 attacks.
