Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon declared he has no Palestinian partner in the peace process, as his forces turned the heat on militants after a twin suicide attack which killed 10 civilians. “There is no Palestinian leader with the necessary courage or capabilities to fight terrorism,” the premier told the Israeli parliament. “Accordingly, no negotiations can take place with the Palestinians.” Sharon had called off plans for an imminent summit with his Palestinian counterpart Ahmed Qorei after Sunday’s attack in the southern Israeli port of Ashdod that saw the focus shift from diplomacy towards action on the ground.
