Syria wants dialogue and good relations with the United States, a Syrian state newspaper said on Wednesday, a day after the Arab state said it was unmoved by U.S. sanctions threats. “Syria is always ready for objective and constructive dialogue with the United States and it is very keen on having good ties with it,” said an editorial in al-Thawra newspaper, a government mouthpiece. Syria, blowing hot and cold, said on Tuesday through its official radio it was unconcerned by media reports that President Bush planned to impose sanctions on Syria soon, saying this showed a “malfunction in the U.S. compass.” Full Story
