The Indian government’s media centre in the Kashmir summer capital went up in flames after it was stormed by Islamic rebels, leaving two guerrillas dead and six troops injured, officials said. Huge flames shot into the sky in the heart of Srinagar three and a half hours after rebels stormed the three-storey building firing automatic rifles and hurling grenades, police said. The top floor tumbled down on fire with the body of one rebel, whose grenade detonated on crashing to the ground, senior police official K. Rajindra Kumar said. Kumar said the body of one more rebel was believed to be under debris and that six security personnel were wounded, with one in critical condition. Full Story
