Three Explosions Hit Indian-Held Kashmir

Three grenades exploded in the summer capital of Indian-held Kashmir on Tuesday, wounding at least two soldiers guarding the state information department office, police said. A Pakistan-based rebel group claimed responsibility for the attack. Shooting followed the blasts in Srinagar, said police officer Haseeb Mughal, who added that one of two armed rebels may have entered the information department building. The attack was thought to be the work of suspected Islamic insurgents fighting for the independence of the Himalayan province. Police asked people to move out of eight apartments overlooking the building, said Tirath Acharya, a spokesman for paramilitary Border Security Force. Full Story
