Hong Kong’s top pro-democracy activist will meet U.S. national security adviser Condoleeza Rice during a controversial visit to Washington to brief senators about the Chinese city’s fight for more democracy. The meeting would be one of the highest contacts yet between Hong Kong’s pro-democracy forces and the Bush administration and is certain to trigger more criticism from China, which has repeatedly warned Washington not to meddle in its affairs. “I’ll be having a meeting with her tomorrow (Thursday),” Martin Lee told Reuters by telephone from Washington.
