The Civil Guard has established that the so-called Hamburg cell [of Al-Qa’idah], which managed and carried out the 11 September attacks, sent large sums of money from Germany and the United States to the two suspected members of Al-Qa’idah’s logistics apparatus arrested in Torrevieja (Alicante [Province]) and Murcia [both southeast Spain]. The investigators are convinced that the two men arrested provided, “selectively”, false documents for members of Al-Qa’idah to “facilitate their operational travel and commit terrorist attacks”.
