Libya has reaffirmed that it accepts responsibility for the Lockerbie bombing a day after it appeared to reverse its stand on the matter. Foreign Minister Abdul Rahman Mohammed Shalgam made Libya’s position clear in a new statement on Wednesday. The clarification in Tripoli came after Prime Minister Shukri Ghanem told the BBC Libya had “bought peace” rather than accepted guilt – angering the US. Relations between the US and Libya had been warming after years of enmity. But after Dr Ghanem’s comments on Tuesday, the United States demanded a retraction and delayed plans to lift restrictions banning Americans from travelling to Libya. Full Story
