Let’s hope that no major virus hits the Internet this week, because many of the security professionals who fight such attacks will be busy at the RSA Conference in San Francisco. The show, at which techies and businesspeople talk over all aspects of electronic security, is expected to draw 10,000 attendees to Moscone Center. The event started 13 years ago with a focus on cryptography, the code-making that is the basis for computer security. Through the years, the event has branched out, and after the recent high- profile virus attack MyDoom and last summer’s SoBig and Blaster, fighting the scourge of electronic infections will be a hot topic at this week’s show.
