AUSTRALIA’S internet industry has issued a call to internet users to protect themselves from viruses and worms, setting up a site that will allow them to downloads trial versions of anti-virus software. The Internet Industry Association – hoping to build on its popular No Spam initiative – has established a No Virus site offering free downloads of packages from McAfee, Trend Micro, Norman Antivirus and BitDefender. The software is available at http://www.iia.net.au/novirus. IIA chief executive Peter Coroneos said the initiative was driven by “exasperation” on the part of ISPs, fed up that unprotected internet users were endangering others. Full Story
