The Kurdish authorities were studying video footage yesterday believed to show the final seconds before the double suicide bombing on Sunday which devastated the Irbil headquarters of the two main Kurdish political parties in Iraq. The tapes were made by local television cameramen, one of whom was killed as he filmed. Colonel Harry Schute, the senior US officer in region under Kurdish rule, said they were “in the custody of the Kurdish police service and being closely scrutinised”. He said the death toll from the two explosions had risen to 101. More than 260 were injured. The Kurdish deputy prime minister, Sami Abdurahman, was among the dead.
