All parties praise ‘victory over Israel’. Officials say the deal should solidify resistance’s legitimacy on the world stage. Political, social and religious figures joined together on Tuesday in welcoming last weekend’s announcement of a German brokered deal to swap prisoners between Hizbullah and Israel. They were unanimous in describing it as a historic achievement and a major victory that would benefit all Lebanese. They said that the accord refuted all “unjust allegations” against the resistance movement in the country and reaffirmed that Israel only understood the “language of force.” Minister for the Displaced Abdullah Farhat said that once again Lebanon had scored a historic pan-Arab victory that was only surpassed by the liberation of the South when the invaders were expelled. He added that the swap agreement forced Israel to make continuous concessions, as they succumbed to Hizbullah’s demands for the release of hundreds of Lebanese and Arab prisoners. “With this agreement, Israel is forced to admit that Hizbullah is a legitimate resistance group, not a terrorist movement as purported by the United States and the Israeli enemy,” the minister said.
