The government’s setting a horrible example on privacy, a research analyst said Wednesday, and he urged private sector companies to take a higher road. The Treasury Department’s Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) recently reversed itself and said it would publish personal information–including e-mail addresses, mailing addresses, and phone numbers–of those who had commented on a government proceeding in 2003. The TTB is the successor to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the enforcement sections of which are now part of the Department of Homeland Security. Full Story
