A French shipbuilder has been ordered to pay almost $900,000 in damages to the families of six employees killed in a bomb attack in Pakistan in 2002. The company committed an “inexcusable fault” by under-estimating security risks, the court ruled. The six were among 15 people killed by a suicide bomber as they prepared to board a bus in Karachi. The state-owned company Naval Construction Directorate (DCN) denies any wrongdoing and says it will appeal. At a hearing last month, union leaders said the company had evidence of threats by Pakistani Islamic militants – but did not take proper precautionary measures. Full Story
