Fighting in the mountains of eastern Afghanistan left three U.S. soldiers wounded and several insurgents dead, the American military said Thursday. The clash began Wednesday afternoon when a small group of insurgents fired on a U.S. patrol northeast of Shkin, a town in Paktika province close to border with Pakistan. “We returned fire and the attackers fled.
