A US soldier was killed in a bomb blast in Baghdad as five more Iraqis succumbed to wounds sustained in a deadly assault on US allies, taking the death toll from a series of attacks in the Shiite holy city of Karbala to 18. A US military spokesman said a twin bomb blast killed one US soldier and wounded five others in the Iraqi capital Sunday. “One soldier was killed and five wounded in a double IED (improvised explosive device) blast,” the spokesman said.
