Turkish police said on Friday that an international terrorist organization had given training and cash to members of the Turkish group thought to be behind four devastating bomb blasts in Istanbul last month. A key member of the radical Islamist Turkish group, Adnan Ersoz, was detained on December 15 after returning to Turkey from an unnamed foreign country and admitted the link with the organization while being questioned, a police statement said. “During the interrogation, he said a structure had been formed in Turkey with links to an international terrorist organization,” said the statement, which was carried on the Anatolian news agency. It did not name the international organization, but NTV television said Ersoz and other organizers of the Istanbul blasts had links to Osama bin Laden’s al Qaeda network. Full Story
